Pro Tips for river tubing tips that make a difference:
- Water-Ready Clothing: Be ready to get wet. Comfortable quick dry clothing from bathing suits to sunshirts and yoga pants.

We REQUIRE shoes with heel strap. To navigate the riverbed, you need shoes with a heel strap. Closed-toe shoes (old sneakers, water shoes, or sturdy sandals with straps) are required.
ABSOLUTELY NO BARE FEET OR FLIP-FLOPS.
- Sun Protection: A hat and sunscreen are your best friends on the French Broad. Essentials like forgotten sunscreen and a box of free river shoes are provided as part of the experience.
- Secure Your Specs: If you wear sunglasses, make sure they have a strap. The river likes to collect "lost" shades. Mad Co Tubing has eyewear straps for you to purchase as well.
Pro Tip: Here’s an Asheville tubing tip for cooler weather, AVOID COTTON clothing! Instead choose synthetic or wool materials which will insulate and dry quickly. Conversely, if you run hot or temps or warm, break out the cotton to keep you cool.
What to Bring River Tubing
- Post-River Comfort: Pack a towel and a change of dry clothes to leave in your car.

Food & Beverage: Bring your preferred snacks and drinks. We have small coolers for rent and tubes that can hold your already packed cooler.

- Electronics: Phones, speakers, and cameras are carried at your own risk. If it’s not waterproof or strapped down, it shouldn’t be on the river. WE SELL WATERPROOF PHONE BAGS.
Pro Tip: Rent our coolers if your load is small or you want to disperse your items among your group. Rent the cooler tubes if you want to have one person responsible for the cooler.
